As most of our STH holders will know by now I am moving on from my post as your Head Greenkeeper here at Montrose. It has been an absolute pleasure to have worked on the 5th oldest golf course for the past two years and I would like to place on record my sincere thanks.
First to you the STH, many of whom I have met in person, you have shown me and the greenstaff tremendous support. We have put a lot of work into the greens especially and your patience is greatly appreciated. Without your backing I don’t think we would have made the progress we have, so thank you once again.
We have been lucky enough to have had an army of volunteers help us out on both courses, far too many to mention and I would like to thank everyone who has given up their free time to assist us. Again courses’ condition would not be at the standard we have managed without these guys and girls. Much appreciated.
Last but certainly not least the greenstaff. We have changed a lot over the past two years, without the full support and cooperation of our team the progress we have made would certainly not have been possible. This is the most dedicated and hardworking squad I have been lucky enough to lead and I have to say I will miss the great working relationships we have built up. A huge thank you to the team!!
Finally, I would like to state that the only reason I am leaving Montrose is career progression. This is nothing to do with cuts in budget and certainly nothing to do with the new management group who I have the greatest respect for. The recent support shown to myself and the team has never been better and I leave feeling the golf courses are in the best possible hands.
Regards for now & Stay Safe
