Management team update

The new management team has been in place for three months now.

Made up of business experts with a love of golf and the town, they have volunteered their time and specialisms to map out a sustainable future for the Links. Having taken a close look at expenditure, they are now looking at course income, as the Covid pandemic has highlighted weaknesses in our existing business model.

Greenkeeping team

Meanwhile, Paul Teviotdale has been appointed as the temporary head greenkeeper, following the departures of head greenkeeper Darren McLaughlan and his deputy Les Rae.

Office administrative assistant Catherine Murray has also left the organisation, although we are not currently looking for a direct replacement.

Winter season

In brighter news, our trial membership offer has gone down well.

We offered three months unlimited play on the Broomfield course and 51 golfers took us up on the offer. Around half of them have gone on to buy either a full winter ticket or an 18-month ticket.

This has put us ahead with the take-up of winter tickets this year, compared with 2019/20 (97 tickets sold against 73 last year).

Meanwhile, the winter programme of essential course maintenance has been issued to season ticket holders by email and future updates will be included in this newsletter.
